Thread For Hand Sewing Leather

The waxed linen thread is a little thicker hand thread than the finer waxed nylon thread on the awl reels.  The finer waxed nylon thread is made to work with the sewing awl kit that holds these thread reels. The waxed linen thread is best for hand sewing leather projects that want a heavier looking thread like knife case and tool cases.  When sewing with a hrarness needle, the waxed linen thread works best with the larger size harness needle which is size 000.  If sewing by hand with the finer waxed nylon thread, the smaller size harness needle works best which is size 0. A tip to get thread through smaller needle eyes is to wax the end of the thread with beeswax pushing the thread flat before threading.
