Buying Our Leather Hides All
our hides are sold by the full piece. We do not cut off pieces for
people. However we do sell belt blanks and some kits. When
you add the leather to the shopping cart, you will will have to choose
the quantity of full pieces you want. The price shown on the
shopping cart is the price per full piece which is based on the average
square foot size of the piece multiplied by the price per square
foot. If the actual piece to be shipped is a smaller or larger
square footage than the average size, we will adjust your credit card
charge appropriately so you will only be charged for the actual square
footage that is shipped. If it varies more than a couple square
feet per piece, we will contact you before it is shipped. 1 oz thickness = 1/64 inch thick = 0.4 mm
thick Because leather
is a natural material, all leather hides have some blemishes such as
range marks or cuts. However hides are graded and the higher
quality hides have fewer blemishes and therefore are worth more.
We stock the higher quality hides so you will get the maximum use out of
the leather. The leather color shade can vary slightly from
shipment to shipment when we get new lots of leather even though they
come from the same tannery. |

| Premium Tooling Leather Cowhide
Bend
This is the bend, which is the best part and strongest part of the hide. A bend is the
side with the neck, belly and shoulder removed. 3 - 4 oz $ 12.91/sq.ft. Cdn.
Natural Undyed |
|
| Tooling Bellie
Leather Cowhide
The bellie is the least expensive part of
the hide because it is more stretchy than the rest of the hide and is
oddly shaped and wavier. However it is great for making smaller
items like tool cases and knife cases. For an economical small
leather project, this is a great choice. 7 oz $6.48 /sq. ft. Cdn.
Natural Undyed |
|
| Russet Tooling Back
Cowhide
The back piece is a side with the bellie
and neck removed. Since you are left with the bend and part of the
shoulder, you have an excellent quality and strong piece of leather for
making longer projects such as leashes and oversize belts. 8 - 9 oz $15.60/sq. ft. Cdn.
Natural Undyed |

| European Tooling Cowhide
Shoulder
This shoulder makes a nice length for belts and is good for knife
cases. These shoulders are more supple than the typical tooling
leather and are good for making belts if you want a softer feel to a
vegetable tanned belt. It is also great for making knife cases. 8 - 9 oz $ 8.29/sq.ft. Cdn.
Natural Undyed |
|
| Garment Leather Cowhide
Side
These sides are nice for projects that
require a nice soft leather. 2 1/2 oz $6.38 /sq. ft. Cdn. |
|
| Grained Bag Cowhide
These are smaller full skins. The
neck area often has a single cut. It is great for projects that
require a thicker leather than garment cowhide but yet still need to
retain the same softness. 3 1/2 oz $6.94 /sq. ft. Cdn. |
|
| Goat Skin
This is just the right
thickness and firmness for wallet leather interiors and for lining your
other leather projects. It is also nice for making book covers. 2 1/2 oz $6.29 /sq. ft. Cdn. |
|
| Smooth Firm Chrome
Tanned Cowhide
These sides are ideal
and economical for projects that require a firmer stiffer leather with
uniform color. It makes nice cases, portfolios and pouches. 5 1/2 oz $6.29 /sq. ft. Cdn. |
