The D rings and O rings are available in both solid brass and chrome plated solid brass. Solid brass D rings and chrome plated solid brass O rings are typically used for dog collars, on harnesses and for extensions on purse straps.
Screw posts are used on rifle slings that require a removable hardware fastener. Some people also use them on very thick belts if they want to be able to remove the buckle. Only a screw driver is required to tighten or loosen the screw post.
Button studs are a tradional hardware fastener used to hold down case flaps. Typically a round hole is punched with a short slit coming from the round hole. This allows the hole to open so the leather flap can slip over the stud.
Other leather craft hardware includes split key rings, spring money clip bars and swivel snaps. Solid brass swivel snaps are used on dog lesahes and horse leads. The dog leash clips are also available in chrome plated solid brass.
Some people like to decorate wristbands and tough dog collars with spikes. We have setters for the two permanent spikes lengths we stock (small spikes / large spikes). We also carry a screw type hexagon spike that does not require a setter. First you need to punch a small hole.
For the screw type spike, just insert the screw through the hole and use a screw driver to screw it to the spike. If you do not want them ever to loosen, drop some glue in the hole first before screwing them together or use loc tight.
The permanent spikes are set so strong and permanent that it is horrible if you should ever have to remove it. Punch a hole in the leather. Put the stud through the hole and then put it on a solid metal surface like a mini anvil. Next put your spike setter over the spike and hit it with a hammer until the leather is tight. The inside of the spike setter is shaped for the correct size spike so use the small spike setter with the small spikes and the large spike setter with the large spikes.
